I hope you are right, I said to Tina.
Time is a relative measure, but in this instance, it will be swift, Tina replied.

Somewhere in Earth's Orbiting Debris Field

"Damnit, Richy! How did you figure running straight toward the defense turret would be a good idea?" I yelled. My ship was spinning slowly, and we had no more thrusters working to stabilize us. I looked around the screens in front of me, hoping one of them would give me an idea on what to do next.
"I didn't say this WOULD save us! It was the only option we had with the greatest chance of survival," Richmond responded. I looked around the cabin and I was surprised my new passengers and estranged acquaintances did not have terror on their faces. Isadora, Pensill, and Frank were thankfully still strapped into their seats. Gullintani and Julian were trying to hang onto the table behind us in order to stop themselves from floating about. Dunstan was still holding onto the hatch going into the cargo bay.
"What now, space junker? What the hell happened?" Gullintani quipped.
"We've been shot, don't worry. I'm sure the UNSI will be along shortly to pick us up. They always have a fleet nearby to monitor traffic. I'm sure they're aware of one of their guns firing without them giving the order," I replied.
"What is the UNSI?" Isadora asked. I began to open my mouth to reply, but know-it-all Julian chimed in.
"The UNSI stands for the United Nations Space Initiative. They are the world's most advanced and largest force of military in space. They are in charge of all activities going on inside our solar system. When it comes to anything outside of Earth's ozone, they are the law," Julian explained.
"Space pigs, great. This chick must get along with them swimminglyâwith her being a former cop and all," Gullintani muttered. I tried to ignore the actual swine and focus on surviving. Hopefully, Sparks wasn't in control of the orbital defense turret anymore. Seeing as he disabled us, hopefully it was enough to satisfy his rage.
"Richy, hail the UNSI and let them know of our situation. Then give me a damage report," I ordered. The screens in front of me froze and flashed for a split second.
"Hail sent. Damage report: The ship has lost the main engine and it is no longer attached. It is just drifting and spinning in a low-gravity ballet, almost as if it were a separate dancer. Will our display of beautiful and soothing movement be gazed upon to bring comfort to all who see it? Will this stir people with emotional waves from deep inside the bowels of their souls just by gazing upon this majestical performance? Once they get drunk by the martini-like stirred passion, would they take a deep breath and say to themselves, 'At least that shit isn't happening to me, those assholes are screwed!â" Richmond responded.
"Enough with the theatrics, Richy!" I yelled.
"Also, there is a hole in the cargo hold.
